Manu Bhaker missed her third Olympic medal chance in 25m pistol by whisker. She finished fourth with 28 points against the Hungarian opponent Veronica who ended a point higher at the end of series 9. Jiin Yang of South Korea secured gold, Camille Jedrzejewski of France won silver while Hungary’s Veronika Major finished in third place. Manu had already won two bronze medals earlier in 10m air pistol singles and mixed with Sarabjot Singh. She has already created history by becoming first Indian woman winning two medals in a single olympic

There have been three Indians who have won two medals in olympic namely Normal Pritchard, Sushil Kumar & P.V. Sindhu. Manu Bhaker from Haryana had a chance to create history by winning the third medal in a single olympic but just missed it. However at just 22 years old she would have enough chances in future to be a leading medal scorer for India. On being asked about her experience at the 25m she said that she was in superb form throughout the tournament but was nervous on 25m shooting. Probably the pressure of winning the third medal proved too much.

She has won gold medals in commonwealth, asian games, youth Olympic ,world cup & world championship owing to which she has won the Arjuna award in 2020. Manu is enjoying a huge surge in popularity in India after the recent Olympic performance. Manu who used to charge Rs 20-30 Lakhs for an advertisement has been approached by almost 40 advertisers. Her fee has hiked by about 6-7 times with one deal being signed at Rs 1.5 crore.
